These designs have been lovingly created to spread the message; shopping with real people and their small businesses really does make an impact on the local economy! Here's a quick fact: when $100.00 is spent at an independent business, about $70 stays local in the neighborhood. But, if that same amount is spent at a chain location, less than $40 remains in the community. So, by choosing to support our own friends, neighbors and area residents, we can strengthen each of the zip codes and neighborhoods we call home.

So....because I've been asked....why am I spending time making these little graphics? I've been an advocate for independent businesses for decades; first as retail store owner, experiencing the challenges of explaining just why small businesses matter - and how they are so important to our world. There weren't nearly as many resources around back then as there are today, and now that I'm working in a different type of industry, I've devoted a sizeable chunk of time to developing useful tools and images that small business owners can use. Let's face it; retail is a tough world out there, especially when you are the one "juggling all the hats" busy entrepreneurs need to wear, right? These are just my way of working to spread the message of pausing to think about our spending choices, and just maybe, influence some folks to explore all that our wonderful little communities have to offer. I hope you enjoy and find these useful in your holiday marketing! 😀
