"Looking Forward" Reflections on 2018 and Thoughts for the Year Ahead

Today's post focuses on some thoughts and musings which have been percolating around in my brain during the last few days. While I haven't always taken time to reflect on the past, this week I've definitely taken time to pause and ponder the year which stretches out behind like the wake of a passing boat.

As I've looked back on the highlights and achievements, misses and things which could have been done better, I'm seeing how my choices - both the ones which were carefully planned and successfully executed, as well as decisions made in a hurry - led to a particular outcome. Whether the end result was good or bad, I notice that there is education in every experience. It is thus that I offer you the quotes and words below which to be seemed to summarize a great deal of wisdom for me during the past 12 months. I hope you find them enlightening as well.

An excellent reminder as we move forward; goals are a wonderful thing but let us not measure everything by a check mark or line item.

Looking forward; this seems to be a fun activity, not just for family or friends, but also as a way for members of an organization or even coworkers to connect in a positive manner.

Repeat to yourself often: "Every single day, week and month offers a new chance to begin."

Mistakes do NOT mean you are failing but rather indicate you are out there TRYING.

Shifting your focus from the little petty obstacles in life allows you to contemplate solutions to the real challenges.

Being frozen in place isn't a solution. Whether springing to safety or falling, one must make a conscious choice to act.

Simple and seemingly generic actions, when positively directed, can lead us to make good changes.

Print out and post conspicuously - better yet, make a few copies to hand out to others.

Acknowledge those who lift you up and move you forward.

Perhaps it's not about the final act of reading off the finished product but the weekly habit of recording the details.

Without a willingness to try new things we may never discover what actually lies ahead.

Learn what matters; be remembered for the right reasons; write a story that inspires.

While individual results may vary one thing stays the same; the outcome is up to you.

Set goals. Not to burden yourself with but to inspire and reward each step forward of progress.

Believe.

The days that things don't go exactly as planned? Let it go. Learn from what happens and promise yourself to begin again the following morning.

I wish you a very happy New Year filled with limitless possibilities and a world of potential!

Sincerely, Andrea @ Marketing Delmarva
