I am constantly surprised by how many folks shy away from putting their goals and plans down on paper, fearing they lack the skills needed for quality writing - but it doesn't have to be this way. Don't consider yourself limited to how you took to English class in school - this is a new day and time in your life and quality material comes from the heart! That's not to say you don't want to make friends with useful tools such as spell check and basic grammar principles, but so often I find that what we WANT to say is more important than a perfectly produced piece of material. It's really all about how you begin.
• Start small! Write a sentence about your car, your child or your cat.
• Explore ways to convey how you feel passionately about something important in your life.
• Paint a visual picture of the passion you pour into the work you love doing in just a few words; I suggest staying within two sentences as that helps narrow down the options.
• Print your work or tear the page you've written on out of a notebook and post it in a prominent place where you can see it. Scratch words out, make corrections as needed, scribble and revise - and if you're not sure of technical style ask someone to proof it before publishing.
• The next day, write another sentence or two, about a different topic. You will be shocked at how, when you do this every day, it becomes so much easier and fluid of a process. Save your pages and look over them in a week because you'll learn what feels right, how the words begin to flow and you'll get more comfortable every time you try. (and because it only takes a few minutes to draft small bit of this process, you'll likely find it both manageable and slightly addictive).
Here are a few more suggestions to keep your creative efforts rolling!
Give it a try today ~ because I've seen some of the most shy, inexperienced writers actually develop confidence and begin to take real pride in sharing their story with the world. After all, writing your own content will absolutely set you apart from others and give you fresh tools with which to communicate. Good luck and have fun with this! 👍😃
Sincerely,
Andrea Baumann
