Let's Chat! National Swap Ideas Day (September 10th)

Saturday is National Swap Ideas Day, celebrated on September 10th. This is one of those fun dates which I think invites interaction and provides great opportunities for engagement. You could participate by inviting feedback on a particular topic, asking residents to share thoughts on something of interest in your community, take a poll or start a lively discussion online!

I thought it might be fun to throw out a couple of topics and invite your feedback. Each one is different and yet all things I'm interested in discussing - feel free to jump in and comment on our Facebook page or start a new conversation about something you'd like to learn more about. (See below)

First, a bit about this occasion: "Swap Ideas Day encourages us to share a creative or helpful idea with someone and trade them for their thoughts in return. Swapping ideas today does not have to be done on a one-on-one basis. Often, groups of people with similar interests gather with a common goal in mind. The meetings are usually a social gathering. However, on occasion, groups with different skill sets, design talents, and ideas gather. They bounce sketches, eureka moments off each other, and suddenly a new idea develops". And now, on to the discussion!

(1) Do you have a favorite method of writing online posts for your social media sites? Although it's advisable to plan out such material in advance, which i try to do, some of my best content comes from current situations or sudden inspiration. Is there a specific way in which you create interesting or useful information?

(2) Who has started planning for the holidays? Each year I find myself pretty overwhelmed and stressed out (anyone else feel that way?), so this month I started buying a few small items each time I go shopping. It's amazing how quickly this process is helping me stockpile canned items, cookie-making ingredients and little things for gift exchanges! What's your best suggestion for navigating the holiday season?

(3) How do you get to know people in your community? I enjoy going out to events, volunteering and visiting local businesses, however I struggle with one on one interaction. How might you suggest a good way to start conversations?

I hope you join us over on the Marketing Delmarva Facebook page to share your thoughts, or just use today to launch your own exchange of ideas. Enjoy and be inspired! Thanks for following. 🙂

Sincerely,
Andrea Baumann
